Social mobilisers (x2) – North West–Bojanala (Rustenburg & Brits) – Fixed term assignment (reporting to Programmes Officer)
To assist and/or support the programme officer to implement the NDOH and SCI programme strategy at district and provincial level to achieve the set youth programme objectives, which includes coordinating and supporting the implementation and monitoring of HAST youth-related project plans and Soul Buddyz Clubs in relevant districts.
Key responsibilities
Demand creation
- Support the HAST/MCWH/HP team in educating young people on SRH, HIV prevention, and gender-based violence prevention.
- Mobilise youth through events that promote HIV testing, PrEP uptake, and other SRH services.
- Use platforms like radio, outreach, and community events to generate service demand.
- Conduct health talks and facilitate community dialogues in selected facilities.
- Distribute IEC materials regularly to young people.
- Assist district DOE with launching Soul Buddyz Clubs.
Co-ordination and monitoring of projects
Soul Buddyz Clubs
- Recruit and register new Soul Buddyz Clubs.
- Lead advocacy with local and provincial government through the Raising Voices coalition.
- Collect attendance records and registration forms.
- Distribute tools and ensure clubs meet weekly and report as required.
- Coordinate club activities in consultation with the programme officer.
- Host in-person and virtual coaching sessions twice monthly.
- Document all coaching interactions and club activities.
- Identify and address issues impacting club participation.
- Support clubs' social media engagement and track activity attendance.
- Prepare and submit monthly progress reports.
Youth Zones / AYFS
- Support the AYFS Champion in rolling out the Youth Zone programme at targeted health facilities.
- Track referrals, screenings, and PrEP services for youth clients.
- Help organise one youth campaign event per quarter based on the NDoH calendar.
- Ensure compliance with M&E standards and accurate data entry.
- Compile monthly reports using approved M&E templates.
- Capture and send media content to the communications team for publishing.
- Submit monthly reports to the immediate supervisor.
Stakeholder management
- Identify key stakeholders aligned with club goals.
- Engage and build relationships to support and showcase club activities.
- Coordinate meetings between clubs and decision-makers.
General
- Submit all required reports using correct templates.
- Work closely with the programme officer to ensure integration of activities.
- Seek creative ways to meet programme objectives.
- Monitor club engagement and reduce dropouts.
Qualifications and experience
- Matric required; post-matric qualification preferred.
- Experience and understanding of issues affecting gender, children, and young women is essential.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in community development or activism.
- Understanding of and commitment to advocacy and gender equality.
