The state of child safety in South Africa is in crisis. Even though people have been asking for change, not enough is being done to protect our children at school.
From April to June, Soul City Institute and other key partners supported by National Department of Health (NDOH) will soon roll out a series of dynamic, youth-focused activities across South Africa in support of the national “Close the Gap” campaign.
In March 2025, over 1000 children from KwaZulu-Natal, Rustenburg, and Mpumalanga came together for the much-anticipated Soul Buddyz Congress. This annual event, hosted by Soul City Institute and supported by the AIDS Foundation of South Africa, celebrated the dedication and hard work of Soul Buddyz Club (SBC) members, while also serving as a platform for networking, collaboration, and youth empowerment.
The Omotoso acquittal is not just a legal failure, it’s a betrayal of survivors. Soul City Institute calls out the NPA’s mishandling of the case and demands accountability for a justice system that continues to fail women and girls in South Africa.
